The Commission is launching a new consultation on the review of the roaming regulation. response should be provided by February 11. The Commission must complete its review and report on the functioning of the Roaming Regulation by 30 June 2011. Among the key questions raised in this consultation are whether regulatory intervention will be necessary for roaming charges post June 2012 and, if so, what is the most appropriate approach to such regulation.
The consultation comes after the communication of June 2010 where the Commission considered regulation as ineffective (see post below). It should also still publish the result of the study commissionned earlier this year.
